Seven-term Nassau County Legislator Denise Ford (R-Long Beach) declared victory over her Democratic opponent, fellow Long Beach resident Jane Fisher, in Nassau County’s 4th Legislative District race on Tuesday.

Ford, who has held the position since she was elected in 2004, ran on a platform to continue working with state, federal and local police to combat the opioid crisis, expedite funding for Sandy-related community reconstruction projects and continue fighting against overdevelopment.

Her district encompasses Long Beach, Lido Beach, Atlantic Beach, East Atlantic Beach, Point Lookout, Island Park and parts of East Rockaway, Oceanside, Woodmere, Lawrence and Cedarhurst.

“I want to thank all of you for your support and helping me win with my biggest margin,” Ford said in a post on her Facebook page Wednesday. “I have been given the chance to once again proudly serve each and every one of you, and, of course, I represent the best legislative district.”

“Denise crushed it in Long Beach,” said Long Beach Republican Committee Chairman Jim Moriarty. “Denise has worked hard since the day she was first elected, and her popularity continues to grow because she’s out there 365 days per year.”
