Freeport Board of Education vice president charged with DWI

Freeport Board of Education Vice President Anthony Miller was arrested and charged with drunken driving on Dec. 26, according to police.

At around 5:30 p.m., Miller struck three vehicles, two of which were unoccupied parked cars on North Ocean Avenue in Freeport. Miller left the scene and was later arrested by Freeport Police a short time later. He was charged with driving with a suspended registration, driving without a license and leaving the scene of accident that included property damage.

According to Daniel Glen, who witnessed the accident, he was in his car when Miller hit him and drove off. Glen said he followed Miller and saw him run through at least three stop signs and eventually hit two more cars.

Miller was arraigned on Dec. 27 at First District Court in Hempstead and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on Jan. 11. He could not be reached for comment by press time.
