Police: Lawrence man drove drunk in Oceanside

Not being able to keep his car in the northbound travel lane resulted in Carlos F. Ruiz-Mendoza, 42, of Spring Street, Lawrence, being noticed by Nassau County police on Lawson Boulevard in Oceanside at 2:45 a.m. on April 29.

Police said they discovered Ruiz-Mendoza was operating his 2003 Acura under the influence of alcohol. In the car were a female in the front passenger seat, no age given, and a 13-year-old boy in the back seat. Both passengers were released to a relative.

Ruiz-Mendoza was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated and several vehicle and traffic law violations.
