Levittown-E.M. swim team competes in state championships

The Levittown-East Meadow boys swim team to its first appearance at the New York State Swimming and Diving Championships on March 2 and 3 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.

Captain Justen Lopez, a sophomore at W.T. Clarke High School, powered through a swimming-related injury and advanced to the championship finals in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual swim. He set personal best times and school records in both events.

Justen made history as the first team member to qualify for the state championships. Last year, he placed third in the Eastern Zone Championships in Richmond, Virginia and set the boys swim record in the 13-14 and 15-18 year old division swimming for the Azalea Swim Team.

Justen also swims for the Long Island Aquatic Club and is a member of the Jones Beach Junior Lifeguards and their competition swimming team.

The Levittown-East Meadow Swim Team consists of swimmers from Salk Middle School, Wisdom Lane Middle School, Division High School, MacArthur High School, East Meadow High School and WT Clark High School.
