Malverne pets get blessed at Lourdes

Deacon Rich Portuese, of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Malverne, blessed several animals during the parish’s Blessing of the Animals on Oct. 4.

People of all ages brought their pets to Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Malverne for its annual Blessing of the Animals on Oct. 4. Deacon Rich Portuese led the prayer ceremony in front of the parish.
Congregants brought everything from dogs to parrots to the ceremony and Portuese personally approached each animal to deliver a special blessing.
