Motorcycle Crash in Baldwin

A 26-year-old man was killed when he was launched from his motorcycle and then struck by a taxi on the Southern State Parkway early Sunday morning.

According to police, Elliot Estrada Jr. was riding his 2013 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on the Southern State east of Exit 20 in Baldwin shortly after 2 a.m., when the motorcycle rear-ended a 2012 Hyundai Elantra.

The impact caused Estrada to be ejected from the motorcycle and into the road where he was then struck by a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria taxi.

Estrada, resident of Ronkonkoma, was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Ford and the Hyundai remained at the scene and did not sustain any injuries.

Though no criminality is suspected at this time, the investigation is still ongoing, and State Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding this incident to call 631-756-3300.
