Nor'easter drop four to six inches of snow across Nassau

The morning was quiet on Wednesday. The afternoon was not, when a nor'easter swirled across Nassau County, dumping heavy, wet snow on roads, causing congestion on numerous thoroughfares.

When all was said and done, the storm had dropped four to six inches of snow across Nassau, with higher totals on the North Shore.

School districts and universities across Nassau County canceled classes Wednesday ahead of a major nor'easter that was rolling into the region — the second one in less than a week.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of Nassau. The service was predicting snow before 2 p.m. and potentially a slushy mix of snow and freezing rain after that. Daytime accumulations could reach four inches, with more to follow overnight. Wind gusts to 25 miles per hour were expected.
