East Meadow’s Memorial Day Parade

The Veterans of Foreign Affairs, Jewish War Veterans and East Meadow American Legion members are hosting the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29 at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at the East Meadow High School’s parking field on Carman Avenue and end at the Town of Hempstead Veterans Memorial Park.

Reverse raffle

The East Meadow Kiwanis Club is hosting its Reverse Raffle event on Tuesday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m at Borelli’s restaurant on 1580 Hempstead Turnpike. The grand prize this year is $2,500 in cash, with a $250 second prize cash and $100 cash prize drawn every 50 tickets. There will also be other prizes! Tickets are $40 each. Friday Film: La La Land

The East Meadow Public Library will screen “La La Land” (PG-13) on Friday, May 26 at 1 and 7:30 p.m. The Oscar-winning film features Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling as an aspiring actress and dedicated jazz musician respectively. They are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.

Memorial Day salute

Step back in time and celebrate a rousing Decoration Day as Memorial Day would have been commemorated in the 19th century, at Old Bethpage Village Restoration.
