New Farmers Market coming to Wantagh

Posted

Wantagh is getting its own Farmers Marke, beginning Sunday, July 29. The market will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. every Sunday through Nov. 11.

Karen Lofgren, the Farmers Market Committee Chair and member of the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce, said the vendors will be selling local Long Island handmade wood items, produce, essential oils, baked goods, and more. A chamber member will be at the market every Sunday to greet the residents and talk to people interested in the chamber’s responsibilities.

The market will be located on the east side of the Wantagh Long Island Rail Road parking lot, at the corner of Oakland Ave. and Sunrise Hwy. People visiting the market will be able to park in the field on the West side of the parking lot and walk from there.

Seniors citizens are eligible for free coupon books to be used at the local farmers markets. Call the Nassau County Office of the Aging at (516) 227-8919 with questions on how to obtain a book.
