Rockville Centre’s Crystal Dunn was among eight American women placed on the Best XI last week after the defending World Cup champions notched a 2-0 win against Canada in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship on Oct. 17.

The U.S. team dominated the competition, outscoring opponents 26-0. Dunn, 26, a South Side High School graduate who helped lead the Cyclones to state titles in 2006, 2007 and 2009, tallied an assist in the final match with the Canadians. After a corner kick, Dunn passed to U.S. striker Alex Morgan, who found the net in the 89th minute for her tournament-high seventh goal.

Dunn has played on the U.S. Women’s National Team since 2013, recording 24 goals in 74 appearances. For the North Carolina Courage this year, she had eight goals and seven assists, leading the team to a championship in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Dunn joined seven other Americans selected for the CONCACAF’s Best XI, including defenders Kelley O’Hara and Abby Dahlkemper, midfielders Lindsey Horan and Julie Ertz and forwards Tobin Heath, Megan Rapinoe and Morgan.
