RVC school, library budgets pass

McNulty, Hackett elected to Board of Education

The Rockville Centre School District budget passed with 74 percent of the vote Tuesday night, while Susan McNulty and Tara Hackett were elected to the Board of Education.

The budget passed with 2,235 yes votes, compared to 771 no votes. The tax levy increase is 0.75 percent.

McNulty, the current principal of the Nassau BOCES Carmans Road School in Massapequa, won convincingly with 1,949 votes, and Hackett, a two-year PTA president at Hewitt Elementary School, was second with 1,338. Incumbent Gregg Spaulding finished third with 837 votes. Wayne Fitzgerald was fourth with 787 votes, while Liz Stack garnered 481.

The library budget overwhelmingly passed with 82 percent of the vote. Sitting library Trustee William S. Murray Jr. retained his seat on the board.
