Janet Susan Rudman, 60, died on April 28 in London, England, after a seven-year battle with dermatomyositis, an unforgiving auto-immune disease. She was a graduate of Wilson Elementary School, South Side middle and high schools and the University of Wisconsin.

After spending her junior year abroad at University College in London, she fell in love with the city and chose to live there for 35 years. Her tremendous ear for languages led to a career in market research in English, French, Italian, Dutch, German and Danish. She also worked for the BBC and Trust House Forte.

Janet was a member of Mensa and the Vegan Society. Funeral services were held in London. In addition to her loving friends from around the world, Janet leaves behind her mother, Judith Rudman of Rockville Centre, sisters Margery and Anita and Naomi, Jacob and Rachel (Riki) her nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Harry W. Rudman, who was a professor of English at CUNY.
