Full music lineup announced for Quiksilver Pro NY Tour in Long Beach

In addition to the main surf site at National Boulevard and the Allegria Hotel — which is already filled to capacity that week and where many of the pro-surfers are staying — organizers said that there will be a “live” site for concerts, skateboarding, BMX and other events at the Superblock and the adjacent vacant property, known as the Foundation Block, which together stretch from Edwards to Long Beach boulevards in between the boardwalk and West Broadway.

According to Quiksilver, shows are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. daily at the music stage. Organizers said that the live site — which will be open to the public at no cost — will have a capacity of about 20,000 people.

City Manager Charles Theofan said that the event is going to be “phenomenal,” and said that as the Quiksilver Pro New York draws closer, he has noticed a growing enthusiasm among Long Beach residents.

“It’s going to be great,” he said. “You know what’s nice? As the buzz is growing louder, we see more and more people are seeing this in a positive light, and are getting really excited about it.”

The Quiksilver Pro New York competition is the first Association of Surfing Professionals world tour event ever held on the East Coast, and will be broadcast nationally on MSG Networks and the music network Fuse. Thirty-four of the world’s top surfers — including Slater and local pro surfer Balaram Stack — will vie for an unprecedented $1 million prize purse, and the winner will pocket a cool $300,000.
