Shootout Cancer, a non-profit organization which raises funds to assist those battling cancer, hosted its fifth annual basketball event on June 16 at Lawrence High School in Cedarhurst to raise money for families afflicted by the disease. Participants donated $10 and enjoyed basketball activities and competitions while spectators donated $5 to the cause. more
About 225 children and their counselors gathered at Barrett Park for the first time this summer on June 27 to mark the beginning of the Valley Stream’s annual summer camp program. more
The Valley Stream Little League wrapped up its 52nd season with its annual Trophy Day ceremony last Saturday morning at Firemen’s Field. After hundreds of games played over the past two months, children were rewarded for their hard play. more
Valley Stream South High School raised $2,500 for the Hewlett House on June 8 by hosting a faculty softball game. Three seniors organized the event and coached the two teams to raise money in honor of two South teachers who are currently battling breast cancer. more
