As Board of Education trustees, village officials and community members came to the Central High School on Nov. 17, they were welcomed by students along every step away from the front entrance to the library. Students, parents, residents and Valley Stream Central High School District officials came together to commemorate the National Education Association’s 89th annual American Education Week with a breakfast and open house at each of the district’s four schools from Nov. 16-19. This year’s theme, “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility,” was talked about as each school showed off what makes it special.
