A happy Homecoming for Falcons
Anne Marie Allocca/Herald
South’s kickline got the crowd fired up during halftime of the Falcons 26-0 win over Rockville Centre in the Homecoming game.

The Valley Stream South High School football season certainly ended on a good note. Not only did the Falcons defeat visiting South Side of Rockville Centre at Homecoming on Oct. 27, it did so in front of a packed, energetic crowd.

Homecoming festivities started with the pep rally that Friday night. On Saturday morning, there was a fair in South Hall. Each class hosted different events to raise money, including pumpkin painting. The banner and float parade followed on the track, with the Class of 2014 winning for best banner. Homecoming King and Queen, Anthony Stallone and Breanna Romero, waved to crowd while riding in a convertible driven by South alumnus Jackie Cox DuBon.

Before the game, all senior athletes were introduced, joined by parents and other family members. Then, the football team stormed through a giant Falcons banner to take the field.

Halftime activities included performances by the cheerleaders, kickline, step squad and marching band. The Falcons win advanced the team to the Conference III playoffs.
