Last week was a very festive time in the community. On Dec. 4, North Valley Stream hosted its annual Christmas and Hanukkah celebration at the Matthew Giglio Plaza. The event featured music by the James A. Dever School Wind Ensemble and Howell Road chorus students. There was also a visit from Santa before the tree and menorah were lit.
On Dec. 8, the Chabad Outreach Center and the village held the annual menorah lighting ceremony at Station Plaza to mark the first night of Hanukkah. Mayor Ed Fare escorted Rabbi Ytzchak Goldshmid up in a Valley Stream Fire Department bucket to light the menorah.
