The Valley Stream Sandlot Baseball League celebrated the end of its 73rd season by hosting its annual championship dinner at the American Legion Post on Oct. 28.

The dinner honored two championship teams from the intramural league: the Dodgers, from the AA Division, consisting of players 10 and under, and the Hawks, from the AAA Division, consisting of players 12 and under. President Bob Inzerillo handed out trophies to players on both teams.

Coaches and volunteers from the organization’s 30 teams packed a banquet room at the Valley Stream American Legion. Inzerillo thanked coaches and parents for all their help, as well as Valley Stream Trustee and former VSBL President John Tufarelli for his support.

Inzerillo also noted Alex Carr, a member of the club’s board, for his help running all of the season’s events. He thanked League Vice President Armando Hernandez and board members Gerardo Cavaliere and Frank Francese for their work with the league.

The VSBL also contains two travel teams, the Colts and the Hawks. Many of the intramural players aspire to play for travel teams, Inzerillo explained.

Inzerillo said that a dinner for the travel teams will be held, but said the date had not been set.
