Church tea party honors late member for work

A group of ladies donned their flashiest hats on June 13 for a tea party at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, where they honored the late Genevieve Bogle, who was an active member of the church for decades up until she died in 2008.

“She was involved in almost every organization while she was here,” said her son, Valley Stream Village Justice Robert Bogle, who stopped by with his wife, Kathy. “She was a woman of strong faith.”

It was a faith that never waivered, he said, even after his father, Walter, died in 1968 when Bogle was 11, leaving his mother to raise him alone. That faith was what drove Genevieve to get involved with the parish social ministry, the Rosary Society and other church groups, which she was consistently active in since the 1970’s.

“She was a very positive person, too, and had a very optimistic look at life, and that was contagious when she worked with a lot of people,” Bogle said.

Judy Miccio, Blessed Sacrament’s parish social ministry director, agreed. “It was contagious to me. She helped me through one of the roughest times in my life. She meant a lot to me.”
