Crowds flock to Rockaway Avenue for Valley Stream Community Fest

Shoppers checked out the displays at the Valley Stream Community Fest on Rockaway Avenue on Sept. 27. Temperatures rose into the 80s and the day felt like a return to summer as vendors showcased their merchandise and performers displayed their skills

Attendees at Saturday’s third annual Community Fest enjoyed summer temperatures and sunny skies as they perused vendor booths and dined in front of restaurants on Rockaway Avenue.

The crowd was more consistent than in previous years, according to organizer Andrew Hackmack. A host of politicians also had booths set up, with campaign workers carrying signs through the crowd.
