Dog park gets some touching up

Posted

Valley Stream’s dog park received some light renovation work on June 8, when new carpeting was installed on its dog ramp.

Mayor Ed Fare made an appearance and took the opportunity to praise the park’s continued success. “Three years since its inception, our dog park is thriving with 322 members. We feel it is the premier dog park on Long Island. We are looking to upgrade whenever and wherever possible, so it remains a great place to visit for both dog and owner.”

Fare joined Friends of Valley Stream Dogs member Mike Powers and his son, Shaun, who did the work. Powers said the village was able to buy the carpeting at a discount, as the pieces were leftovers from other projects. He noted that the park has been a collaborative effort between his group and the village.
