Fair Fire destroys garage on Martens Avenue

Flames engulfed a Valley Stream home’s garage on Saturday afternoon, and responding firefighters fought the blaze for almost 30 minutes before it was under control.
The Valley Stream Fire Department’s Unit 343 was dispatched to a home on Martens Avenue at 12:15 p.m., according to First Assistant Chief James Ervolino. Firefighters extinguished the flames within 25 minutes.
Ervolino said that a teenager was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported. A car inside the garage was totaled.
The Nassau County Fire Marshall’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
