Bernie Williams is back at Rockville Centre’s Madison Theatre

His days wearing the New York Yankees pinstripes are behind him now, but Bernie Williams’ commitment and passion for the sport that brought him so much success and acclaim is unwavering.
He’ll bring that zeal for his sport — and his music — to the Madison Theatre at Molloy College, when he and his band return there for another spirited concert, on Friday, June 6.
This time around Williams’ concert is more than just about the music. It’s a benefit for the Long Island Bombers, a beep baseball team, and the Rockville Centre Little League’s Challenger Division — local baseball programs dedicated to supporting and promoting the game among visually impaired, physically and mentally disabled youth and adults.
The concert is being produced by entertainment entrepreneur Ted Fass, a Rockville Centre resident, who has been blind since he lost his sight to a tumor at age 11.
A baseball enthusiast as well as an avid golfer, Fass has not led visual impairment hold him back. His love of baseball and determination to succeed was instilled in him from his days playing in the Rockville Centre Little League, before he lost his eyesight. “Sports is my thing,” says Fass, a graduate of South Side High School. I love the competition and it keeps me in shape.”
And then there is the music. From his Rockville Centre base, Fass runs his entertainment business, booking a variety of musical and entertainment acts.
His life has been both prodigious and inspirational. Following his graduation from the University of Miami in 1975, he worked as a drummer and vocalist with a band. From there, he pioneered mobile disc jockeying for parties, and ‘Ted’s Disco on Wheels’ was born. He then expanded into total event production. As if that isn’t enough, he continued to pursue his love of sports and in 1997 spearheaded the formation of the Long Island Bombers (the only Long Island beep baseball team registered with the National Beep Baseball Association, the sport’s governing body).
