Honoring top senior female athletes

Jessica Deptulski (East Rockaway)
The Lady Rocks fell narrowly short of a Long Island softball championship this spring, but catcher Jessica Deptulski finished on top in a couple of categories in the school record’s book. The All-County honoree shattered school records for hits in a season with 50, and runs scored with 44. She batted a team high .545. Deptulski will play at SUNY-Old Westbury.

Emily Doherty (Oceanside)
The Lady Sailors advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Nassau Class AA soccer playoffs, largely in part to the play in goal by Doherty. The two-year starter, who earned All-County honors as a senior, had 13 career shutouts, including three straight down the stretch to lead Oceanside into the playoffs. Doherty will play soccer at Temple University.

Allison Glass (South Side)
One of the most explosive hitters in Nassau, Glass had a senior season she will never forget. The Lady Cyclones beat nemesis Wantagh, the three-time defending Class A volleyball champions, for their first county crown since 2003. The Muhlenberg College-bound Glass had 402 kills, 292 digs and 92 aces and earned Nassau MVP and All-State honors.

Michelle Iacono (Calhoun)
Led Calhoun to consecutive appearances in the Nassau Class AA title game. Iacono scored 12 goals and assisted on four others in her final season with the Lady Colts. She was a dominant force in the post season; four of her goals and three of her assists came in the playoffs. The All-County honoree will play soccer for Rider.

Michaela Lynch (South Side)
A six-year member of the Lady Cyclones’ lacrosse program, Lynch led the county in assists (58) this spring and netted 56 goals. A speedy midfielder with all the tools, she was named All-County for a second straight year. A single-game high 12 of her 114 points came in a win over Friends Academy. She’s headed to George Washington University.
