Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem Adult Choir
Bid farewell to summer with a dynamic concert presented by the acclaimed choir ensemble. Comprised of veteran members from the renowned Boys and Girls Choirs of Harlem, the choir enchants audiences with a stirring program of spiritual and popular music. The elite mix of 10 to 20 male and female musicians and vocalists has resurrected the indomitable spirit of the Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem, which closed its doors in 2007. As adults, they continue the tradition of excellence as ambassadors of world-class musical talent and epitomizing the impact of music to uplift and inspire. Their repertoire includes a full range of genres — from classical, gospel, popular, and inspirational, to jazz, and R&B — showcasing their vibrant harmonies and musicality.
Saturday, Sept. 5, 8 p.m. $20. Bayview School, 325 Merrick Rd. Freeport. (516) 223-7659 or www.freeportconcertassociation.com.

Art Adventures

NCMA’s Family Day
Share some artistic collaboration with the family at Nassau County Museum of Art. Take the kids on a docent-led walk-through of the current exhibition, “The Moderns,” a sweeping showcase of modernist works representing a virtual history of Modern art, compiled by private Long island collectors. Supervised art activities are also featured, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Also, spend some time in NCMA’s sculpture park, which features over 50 works, many of the monumental in size. For more outdoor fun, the museum’s 145 acres include many nature trails through the woods, ideal for family hikes.
Sunday, Sept. 6, 1 p.m. Free with museum admission. $10, $8 seniors 62 and older, $4 students and children 4-12. Nassau County Museum of Art, One Museum Dr. (off Northern Blvd.), Roslyn Harbor. (516) 484-9337 or www.nassaumuseum.com.
