Tai Chi

The Elmont Library will host a Tai Chi class on Thursday, July 21 at 1 p.m. Tai Chi is a system of movements and positions believed to have been developed in 12th-century China. Tai Chi techniques aim to address the body and mind as an interconnected system and are traditionally believed to have mental and physical health benefits to improve posture, balance, flexibility, and strength. Registration is required.

Sub-Saharan Africa diversity exhibit

Hofstra University hosts an ongoing exhibition that exemplifies the rich diversity of cultures across West and Central Africa. Themes of protection, prestige, and masquerade are illustrated through selected jewelry, masks, weapons, sculptures, and textiles from 25 ethnic cultures. The exhibit is open Tuesday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends from noon to 4 p.m. in the Hofstra Arboretum and Gallery.

Village Green band shell

Summer concerts on the Village Green are underway, and the next performance will feature “Dr. K’s Motown Revue,” on Wednesday, July 27 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the band shell. Call (516) 872-6003 for more information.
