Gaylor can fill my shoes

To the Editor:

I feel greatly honored to have had the opportunity to serve the residents and families of the 6th Legislative District for the last 20 years.

Because of my love for public service, stepping down was a very difficult decision to make. However, I feel I have accomplished all I hoped to as a legislator for my constituents and the residents of Nassau County.

In giving up being your legislator, I had hoped that my replacement would be someone who feels the same commitment I do to the residents, has concern for people and their families, and who is as fiscally conservative as I am. In essence, a person who can be trusted to represent the best interests of the residents and who would fight to hold the line on taxes so families can afford to stay in their homes.

I couldn’t be more delighted to endorse the Republican candidate running for my seat, Bill Gaylor. First and foremost, Bill is a veteran who served our country for 23 years in the Army, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. During his final years of service and before retiring in 2001, he ran the ROTC program at Hofstra. While there, he also attended law school.

After retiring from the Army, Bill opened his own law practice and became very active in the Village of Lynbrook. He was appointed associate village justice and, during his tenure, served with forthrightness and integrity. He is a person of immense character, knowledge, and experience.

I have come to know Bill and his wife of 18 years, Deborah, extremely well. They are wonderful people who have the same values and love of community and country as we all do here in Lynbrook and the surrounding villages. From the bottom of my heart, I ask you to extend to Bill the same support on Election Day that you have given me for the last 20 years.

Thank you again for allowing me the privileged of serving as your Nassau County legislator for the past two decades.
