U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks won the Democratic nomination for the 5th Congressional District in Tuesday’s primary over challenger Joseph Marthone, according to unofficial results from the Nassau County and New York City Board of Elections.

In Nassau County, Meeks captured 76 percent of the vote while Marthone only grabbed 22 percent. There were only 478 voters who turned out in Nassau County, according to the unofficial results.

The Queens constituents in the district favored Meeks even more than in Nassau, as he won in a landslide with nearly 82 percent of the vote. 98 percent of scanners were reported as of 1:07 a.m. on Wednesday.

The 5th District consists of southeastern Queens and parts of southwestern Nassau County. The Nassau portion of the 5th District includes parts of Valley Stream, Elmont, North Woodmere and Inwood.
