Nassau County police closed a portion of West Merrick Road early Monday morning, after a report of gunfire near Sonny O’s Pub.

Danny Diaz, co-owner of Klipper Kings, a barbershop next to the bar on West Merrick Road, said he heard that a fight broke out between two of the bar’s patrons and a round was fired. The bullet pierced one of the barbershop’s windows.

“It killed our TV,” Diaz said, adding that this is not the first time something like this has happened near the bar.

The call came in at 5:26 a.m., according to a police spokesman. As of press time, no injuries were reported and no arrests were made. Police said the investigation is ongoing and did not provide more information.

The roadway was reopened at about 10 a.m.
