Knight sparked South’s comeback by draining a trey to begin a second quarter that saw the 6-foot-7 Elisias and 6-3 Badette combine for 10 points to help trim the deficit to 30-28 by halftime. “The lights may have been a little too bright for us early, but we settled down and chipped away,” Johnsen said. “We said the game was going to be won in the paint. We saw the openings and had to attack more.”

The Bulldogs were up 37-32 early in the third quarter following junior Joe Pasquale’s traditional three-point play, but the Falcons responded with six straight points and led for the first time after a King trey. The game was knotted at 42 heading into the decisive fourth.

South scored the first seven points of the final quarter and didn’t allow the Bulldogs to get within five thereafter by going 14-for-20 from the foul line.

“I had all the confidence in the world,” said King, whose career point total stands at 1,141. “I knew we’d find a way.”
