Valley Stream crash sends three to hospital

Three people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash overturned an SUV at the intersection of Valley Stream Boulevard and West Merrick Road in Valley Stream shortly after 12 p.m. on Oct. 19, according to the Valley Stream Fire Department.

Three of the SUV’s occupants were taken to South Nassau Hospital and Franklin Hospital with lacerations and back and neck injuries. Two others from the same vehicle were examined, treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

Three children and two adults traveling in the other vehicle, a silver minivan, were also examined and released at the scene.

The collision occurred when one of the vehicles turned in front of the other as both traveled through the intersection, according to Chief Charles Brocher. No arrests or citations were issued.
