A Valley Stream man has pleaded guilty in a 2013 fatal crash that killed a Franklin Square father of three.

Brian Daly, 25, is expected to spend more than a decade in prison for his actions. Daly was driving drunk and high on cocaine on Feb. 27, 2013, when he ran a red light and crashed into a 2003 Ford minivan being driven by 46-year-old Christopher DeCrescito.

The accident occurred at Corona and Franklin avenues at the Franklin Square-North Valley Stream border. DeCrescito was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Daly, appearing before Nassau County Court Judge Angelo Delligatti on Monday, pleaded guilty to felony counts of first-degree depraved indifference assault, second-degree manslaughter and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.

According to the District Attorney’s office, Daly was driving more than 70 mph in a 30 mph zone, and went around other cars stopped for the red light. He crashed into the driver’s side door of DeCrescito’s vehicle. DeCrescito was driving to his Ferngate Drive home.

Daly was found to be in possession of at least a half-ounce of cocaine at the scene.

He will be sentenced on July 18, where he is expected to receive 12 years in prison and would not be eligible for parole.
