Author fair at the library

The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library will be hosting a Valley Stream Author Fair on April 30 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can meet various Valley Stream and other Long Island authors, learn about their new works and their writing process. Light refreshments will be served, and raffles will be awarded. There is limited seating for the event, however, so registration at the Adult Reference Desk is requested. Children’s video game time

Windsock arts and crafts class

Children in kindergarten through sixth grade can learn about the wind and make their own windsock to bring home and test out on May 2 at 4:30 p.m. at the Elmont Memorial Library. Registration is required. For more information, call (516) 354 – 5280 or email childrenservices@elmontlibrary.org.

Touch that truck

Trucks and vehicles of all sorts make their way to Eisenhower Park, Field 6A, for families to check out, during “Touch a Truck,” on Saturday, April 29, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Get up close and explore all sorts of vehicles, including big rigs, fire trucks, police and emergency rescue vehicles, military vehicles, and construction equipment. Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food, paper goods and cleaning supplies to be donated to Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.

Princess dreams and delights

Bring the kids to see some of their favorite Disney princesses and heroines when the Madison Theatre in Rockville Centre salutes that enchanting world where dreams do come true, in the musical revue, ““A Dream is a Wish: A Princess Concert,” Saturday, April 29, at 11 and 3 p.m. The fast-paced show features a dynamic cast of student performers from Molloy’s CAP21 Theatre Arts program, appearing as those beloved princesses, accompanied by their companions, with Disney-esque staging, with arts and crafts and related activities prior to showtime.
