Cupcake wars

Teenagers in grades 6 - 12 can make and eat Valentine’s Day cupcakes on Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library. Registration is required.

Author Skype visit

Best-selling author Beatriz Williams will meet with readers at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library via Skype to discuss her recent book, “Summer Wives,” a ravishing post-war fable of love, class, power and redemption on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. Copies of the book are available at the Adult Reference Desk with a reading guide. Light refreshments will be served.

Celebrate Chinese New Year

Children in kindergarten through sixth-grade learn about the symbolism of the Lion Dance and create their own lion dance parade mask for Chinese New Year at the Elmont Memorial Library on Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. Registration is required.
