Fundraising with bling at Meadowbrook

Posted

Meadowbrook Elementary School in the East Meadow School District promoted its Pennies for Patients Drive by hosting a Nickel, Dime, Quarter Day on Feb. 8.

Pennies for Patients is a science-based, service learning program created by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The drive helps to connect schools with local blood cancer patients, while also providing tangible life skills to the students and allowing them to see the impact they are making in the lives of others.

The school encouraged students and staff members to wear “bling” or “shiny” outfits to promote the goal of raising $3,000 for the society through donated change. Individuals also had the option to wear superhero shirts to illustrate being a hero for those in need.
