Masked men rob jewelry store with sledgehammer

Two masked men raided a jewelry store at the Green Acres Mall on March 30, after smashing a display case with a sledgehammer, police said.

According to police, two men entered Zales at the mall at 4:26 p.m., and broke the case.

The suspects fled the mall southbound via a two-door convertible operated by another man, who was waiting in the parking lot. There were four employees and one customer present in the store at the time of the robbery.

No injuries were reported. Police did not specify how much jewelry they stole.

Both subjects were described as black men, 5-foot-9 and 6-foot-1, wearing hooded sweatshirts, facemasks and dark boots.
