It is the little things, the items that we hold dear that offer a window to the soul. Edith Roosevelt kept a mysterious red Chinese lacquer cabinet that was always locked in her bedroom. When Sagamore Hill became a museum it was opened, and out tumbled a mass of letters from her son Quentin, 20, who died in the line of duty in 1918.
