Valley Stream man arrested in connection with stabbing

Fredy Orlando Zacaria-Agustin, 25, of Valley Stream, was arrested at his home on Aug. 4 at around 3:42 p.m., according to Nassau County police, in connection with a stabbing two days earlier that left a man with multiple wounds to his head, neck, arms and chest.

Police said that the suspect used a broken bottle to injure a 25-year-old man on Aug. 2 at 3:30 a.m. near West Merrick Road and South Franklin Avenue. Zacaria-Agustin then fled on foot, according to a police news release.

Police reported that the victim was found lying on the ground. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Zacaria-Agustin was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and two counts of fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Aug. 5.

Calls placed to the Legal Aid Society, which is representing Zacaria-Agustin, were not returned as of press time.
