A woman is in critical condition after the driver of a vehicle she was in struck a parked car in Bellmore early Saturday morning. The driver was allegedly drunk.
According to Nassau County police, the woman, who has not yet been identified, was in the passenger seat in a 2006 Nissan driven by Vincent D. Milo, 27, of Massapequa, at 4:32 a.m., when Milo struck a 2002 Chevy that was legally parked near Marion Street, on Bellmore Avenue.
Andrew Ball, 30, of Salem, and a friend of Milo's, was following, and pulled over to help, according to police, who found the woman lying in the passenger side of Ball's car when they responded.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for a severe head injury, and was still listed as in critical condition Saturday night, police said.
Both men were operating under the influence of alcohol, according to police, and were arrested. Milo was taken to a hospital to be treated for facial lacerations. Ball also had what police believed to be marijuana on him, as well as what appeared to be cocaine, police said.
Milo was charged with driving while intoxicated, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree vehicular assault and second-degree assault, and police said he would be arraigned after being treated at the hospital.
Ball was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday morning in First District Court.
