In Concert

Kathy Mattea
Kathy Mattea and longtime collaborator guitarist Bill Cooly invite everyone to join them in their “Acoustic Living Room” for a dynamic evening of song and stories. The award-winning songstress and natural storyteller enjoys sharing songs and tales inspired by her Appalachian roots. The evening will include Mattea’s beloved classics “18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses,” “Where’ve You Been?” and many other hits — plus a handful of more eclectic and often requested tunes from her extensive 17 album catalogue — with sprinkling of brand new material, all reinterpreted for the duo format. Those tunes are woven through with bluegrass, gospel, and Celtic influences. A torchbearer for often overlooked musical legacies like those of Hazel Dickens and Jean Ritchie, Mattea has gathered songs and stories of bravery, pride and grief that further define and describe the life and times of her native West Virginia.
Sunday, Feb. 12, 7 p.m. $50, $45 and $40. Landmark on Main Street, Jeanne Rimsky Theater, 232 Main St., Port Washington. (516) 767-6444 or www.landmarkonmainstreet.org.
