A newborn girl, with her umbilical cord still attached, was dropped off at Wantagh Fire Department headquarters, at 3470 Park Ave., on Thanksgiving Day at 11:46 a.m.

According to Nassau County police, the baby was reported to be three hours old and weighed roughly 4 pounds. The fire department, in conjunction with Nassau County police, ran a scan on and examined the infant before rushing her by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for further evaluation.

The child is one of 3,299 children the foundation has received nationally since it began in 1998 and 15th child this year in New York state. The foundation can be contacted at (877) 796-4673.
