Holiday light show returning to Jones Beach

Posted

The Holiday Lights Spectacular at Jones Beach State Park is back.

This holiday tradition, last held at the park in 2007, is returning with more than 150 animated and synchronized giant light displays along the 2.5-mile drive at the West End of Jones Beach. “While a few of the displays may be familiar to visitors, this year’s Holiday Lights Spectacular will be a new experience,” said George Gorman, deputy regional director for New York State Parks.

This year, the Holiday Lights Spectacular will also feature the inaugural Holiday Village. The Holiday Village will feature pictures with Santa, holiday refreshments, holiday music, local school choir performances, and a hay maze before entering the sparkling light display.

The display opens Thursday, Nov. 20 and runs through Sunday, Jan. 4. Visitors can enjoy the display each day from dusk until 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and until 11 p.m. Friday thought Sunday. The fee is $20 per vehicle and $25 on weekends. On Tuesdays, you may drive through the display twice for the $20 fee.

The NYCB Family of Banks and Live Nation, the producer of the Jones Beach Concert Series, are the presenters of the Holiday Lights Spectacular.

“We have authorized this service,” explained Gorman. “They will pay us a permit fee and a percentage of income.” Gorman did say how much that would be.
