The Wantagh School District Board of Education appointed Marie Pisicchio as principal of Mandalay Elementary School, effective July 1. She replaces Dr. Lynne D’Agostino, who will be retiring at the end of the 2013-14 school year.

“The Board is pleased to select someone from within the district who is already knowledgeable about our schools and community,” President Michael Soethout stated. “Ms. Pisicchio possesses the professional qualities and personal characteristics we believe will positively contribute to her role as principal.”

“I am confident that Ms. Pisicchio will execute her responsibilities as principal with professionalism and commitment,” Superintendent of Schools Maureen Goldberg added. “I hope everyone in the community joins me in welcoming her to the Mandalay family.”

Pisicchio currently serves as Wantagh’s K-12 Supervisor of Math, a position she has held for seven years. Her support offered to the district’s mathematics program includes conducting teacher observations, providing leadership in the implementation of the enVision program and providing professional development to enhance instruction.

Pisicchio received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and her master’s in education from St. John’s University. She also holds advanced certification in educational administration from LIU Post.

“I am so grateful to be given such an important responsibility,” Pisicchio said. “I look forward to working with the Mandalay community on our shared goal of educating our students.”
