Wantagh, Levittown schools to open late Wednesday

Posted

Due to the abundant snowfall, Wantagh Middle School and all three elementary schools in the district will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

The middle school will begin at 10:16 a.m. and the elementary schools at 11:15 a.m.

At Wantagh High School, there will be no morning exams. Afternoon exams will be administered as scheduled.

Students who ride the bus, including those attending private and parochial schools, should arrive to their stops based on this two-hour delay.

"We hope that this additional time will allow our students and staff a safer transport to school," Superintendent Maureen Goldberg said.

Levittown schools will also be operating on a two-hour delay on Wednesday. Superintendent Dr. Tonie McDonald said this decision was made in order to give road crews and district staff time to make it safe to transport children and clean the parking lots. Children should be at their bus stops two hours later than normal.

High school students should report to school at 9:27 a.m., middle school students should report at 9:57 a.m., and elementary school students should report at 11:10 a.m. The morning session of GC Tech will be cancelled and the afternoon session will begin at the regularly scheduled time of 11:50 a.m.

All midterm and Regents exams scheduled for Wednesday morning will be administered at 10 am.
