Wantagh Women of Distinction to be honored March 30

Posted

Eight women from Wantagh will be honored on March 30 for their unique and long-standing contributions to the community. The Miss Wantagh Court, in honor of Women’s History Month, is sponsoring this program, to be held at Wantagh Elementary School on Beech Street. The program begins at 7 p.m. The community is encouraged to attend.

The honorees are Elizabeth Greco, Karen Chowske, Danielle Fehling-Wasnieski, Fran Kaufman, Dolores Persky, Ellen Cook, Clare Mundy and Daniela Tobie. Each of the eight honorees were chosen because they are role models for the eight young women who make up the Miss Wantagh Court.

“We are all excited to bring this event to Wantagh,” said Kayla Knight, this year’s Miss Wantagh. “Each of us has chosen one woman among the nominating letters we received.”

At the March 30 program, each member of the Miss Wantagh Court will speak about the Wantagh woman she has chosen to honor. A journal will include biographical information on each honoree.

“My court and I are so pleased to bring this brand new program to Wantagh,” Knight said. “I am proud to represent my peers and look forward to joining with the Women of Wantagh in making history in our community this coming Monday night.”
