The Town of Hempstead’s Board of Appeals has granted MetroPCS New York LLC a renewal of a variance to maintain three wireless communication antennas on a 125-foot high monopole at 3010 Burns Ave. in Wantagh. The variance was renewed on Nov. 17. According to attorney John Coughlin, who represents MetroPCS, this renewal dates from 2008 and includes the three wireless antennas as well as equipment cabinets on the ground.

David Weiss, speaking on behalf of the Board of Appeals said he looked “at the inspection on July 31 and it was determined it [equipment] was in compliance.” Furthermore, a letter from Paul J. Ford and Company of June 17 states that “the monopole structure is sound and in compliance with New York state building codes,” Weiss said at the hearing.

The monopole is owned by 3010 Burns LLC. It is subject to a different building permit and was not the subject of renewal at last Thursday’s hearing.
