What to do when the sky is really falling

There is always the option of just binge-watching CNN and doing nothing to address the attendant anxiety of seeing war-traumatized children and wild-eyed terrorists. But this is neither a wise nor healthy option. We live in this world, and we need to know what is going on and how to live our lives despite the havoc here and abroad.

I know people who ignore the news, enjoy their lives and believe what happens over there doesn’t affect our lives here. It’s a strategy, but not a very realistic one, I’m afraid. Not when Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS, says, “See you in New York.”

On a hopeful note, I look forward to hearing from you how you get through these difficult days.
