Firefighters from several Five Towns fire departments responded to a multiple -residential house at 11 Smith Street in Inwood on Jan. 18. Nearly 40 firefighters were on the scene after a fire in a kitchen on the second floor seeped into the wall, officials said.

No injuries were reported, officials said, but there was extensive damage done to the kitchen, and the rest of the building had smoke and water damage.

The initial call came in at 3:27 p.m. and the situation was under control by 3:57 p.m., Inwood Fire Chief Anthony Rivelli Jr. said.

"It was very routine,” Rivelli said. “A fire in the kitchen got into the walls, but was contained quickly.”
