Summer off to a sudsy start at Lee Road

Posted

Lee Road Elementary School students’ summer vacation got off to a soapy start.

Students at the school, which serves parts of Wantagh, Seaford and Levittown, participated in an end-of-the-year car wash on June 19. The children scrubbed and rinsed local folks’ vehicles to raise money for the Get a Voice character education program.

Lee Road is just above the Southern State Parkway in North Wantagh. It is part of the Levittown District.

District officials said that the car wash is becoming a Lee Road tradition. For the past two years, participants raised several hundred dollars, which were used to purchase T-shirts with positive messages on them for students.

“This is our way of participating in community service,” Principal Anthony Goss said. “It’s all about paying it forward.”
