A busy weekend for the Lakeview F.D.

In case you were looking for yet another reason to be thankful for the Lakeview Fire Department, we’ll give you one – or how about 10?

Between Friday morning and Sunday night, Lakeview Fire Department responded to a business fire and nearly 10 auto accidents in their coverage area.

The fire had started at 1019 Woodfield Road at a storefront church, only a few blocks from the firehouse, at 3:17 a.m. Crews pulled up and deployed multiple hose lines along with their ladder truck and tools to combat the fire, which they stopped before it spread to other businesses. Lakeview called for mutual aid, and had the assistance of Rockville Centre, Malverne, East Rockaway, and Lynbrook Fire Departments.

The fire was believed caused by an electrical problem in a sound speaker.

Just hours later, the Lakeview Fire Department responded to the Southern State Parkway westbound between exits 18 and 17 for a report of an auto accident with a vehicle on top of another — which is exactly what they found. Working alongside Nassau County’s emergency services unit and the ambulance bureau, crews secured the vehicles and the passengers, who were transported to area hospitals with nonlife threatening injuries.

Last Friday evening, a high-powered Lexus SUV errantly drove into the side of CVS Pharmacy located on Hempstead Avenue as a result of driver error due to her floor mat. The driver refused medical attention.

Lakeview firefighters secured the brickwork and the area, while evaluating the damage to the SUV. CVS was temporarily closed to ensure customer safety.
